Carved Turquoise
An
intricately
hand carved green Tibetan
turquoise bead is surrounded by turquoise nuggets of a beautiful
sky
blue,
green gaspeite rondelles, flower sugilite
rondelles and green turquoise chips. Bali silver flat and round beads,
ornate Bali
silver toggle clasp.
The necklace is 17 inches long.
All through Tibetan history, turquoise has been prized and valued for
its application in ritual and medicinal practice. Historically there
has not been much mining of turquoise in Tibet. The turquoise was
picked up by hand from the surface so as not to scar and deface the
earth, but this practice may well have changed in recent years.
Bali Sterling silver is handcrafted by silversmiths in Indonesia and is
usually
very detailed and intricate.
