Handmade Peacock
Pearl Necklace, with Thai Hill Tribe Silver
You can see why these are called peacock pearls -
their colors are always changing with the light.
The happy little fish is a handcrafted Thai Hill
Tribe silver pendant. Sterling lobster clasp.
The necklace is 16 inches long.
The fish is 1 5/8 inch long from the tip of his
nose to the tip of his tail.
(The pictures have been somewhat
enlarged to show detail.)
Pearls have been valued for thousands
of years in China, ancient Rome, and
by the Native Americans among many
other cultures. In ancient Rome only
royalty was allowed to wear pearls.
Pearls are the only gemstones
to come from within a living organism.
Freshwater pearls are found (usually
farmed) in certain breeds of mussels.
Pearls symbolize innocence and a pure
heart. They stimulate femininity, self
acceptance and help develop wisdom.
Thai Hill Tribe Silver has a very high
silver content (97-99%) and is handcrafted by
silversmiths in the hills of Northern Thailand
using traditional tribal methods passed down from
generation to generation. Even the tools used to
make the silver are hand made.
