Handmade Labradorite and Pearl Earrings

Pearls of Wisdom 

Luminous and beautiful freshwater pearls and blue flash labradorite make these versatile earrings. Also in these earrings are wavy discs made of vermeil (sterling silver coated with 14K gold) and elongated sterling silver ear wires.

Pearls are a symbol of beauty and spirituality. To me, pearls are ethereal and heavenly but still of this earth. And of course, pearls symbolize the moon.

These are sizable white (or just off-white) round freshwater pearls. They're just about perfect.

The labradorite has a strong blue flash. Just the right touch for the serene pearls.

Freshwater pearls are produced by mollusks. The mollusk secretes layer upon layer of calcium carbonate on the pearl. The result is the lustrous surface of the pearl. It can take years for the mollusk to create a pearl.

The earrings are 1.5 inches long. The pearls are 9 millimeters in diameter. (About 3/8 inch.)
