A rainforest jasper rhyolite heart pendant, knotted new jade (serpentine) beads and rhinestones make a unique boho long necklace that can be worn by its gorgeous self or layered with other favorites.

Rainforest jasper rhyolite is the result of volcanic activity and of rare rhyolitic lava. As the lava hardens small pockets are formed. These pockets are later filled with other materials such as agate, jasper, feldspar and quartz. Rainforest jasper is mined in Queensland, Australia. It is said to have a calming and balancing energy. It also is believed to be a stone that brings joy to the person who wears it. It has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale of hardness with 10 being the hardest.

I feel fortunate to have found this pendant as rainforest jasper rhyolite seems to be becoming more difficult to find especially in pieces that are large, as in pendants.

The soft green translucent beads are new jade, also known as serpentine. Serpentine resembles jade in appearance but it is a very different, unrelated series of minerals. It is fairly soft (3 to 6 on the Mohs scale). The minerals in serpentine are said to be harmonious with the heart chakra. It is mined in numerous locations in the world.

The necklace is 34 inches long. The pendant is 1.5 inches wide and 1.5 inches tall. The pendant drops 2 1/8 inches from the strand.

Note: In the first picture the serpentine beads appear to be different shades. They are actually perfectly matched. The appearance of different shades is due to slight shading within the photo.
